Greetings and Happy New Year Everyone!
My name is Deanna Hurn. I'm the president and founder of DHurn Enterprises, and this year I have big plans to grow my business tremendously with great planning, discipline and God I know I can do it! One of my goals this year is to enroll 10-15 math students into my math coaching program. Next week I began my marketing campaign, to began the process of attracting students that I know I can help! I also look forward to speaking at more colleges this year and sharing my story with other students to motivate them to embrace their challenges in life. To help me stay focus on my goals and achieve them, I have written a plan describing both my goals and what I need to accomplish by a given date to have my desired result. This year I have also joined a few groups that will help me stay motivated and focused. I believe with lots of prayer, discipline and my plan I will have a productive year! Join me on the journey of making 2009 a fruitful and fullfilling year!
What do you want to accomplish this year?
How do you plan to make your goals become a reality?

ReplyDeleteI started this year off anyalizing where exactly I error in trying to acheive my goals. I notice a trend of not finishing what I start.
ReplyDeleteThere are two main components that I need in order to make this year a success, discipline and consistency. They both work hand in hand. For example a person who is disciplined but lacks consistency usually spends an excessive amount of time trying to acomplish one or more goals. The same applies to an individual who is disciplined but inconsistent, they have a bad habbit of always working on new ideas but never quite finished the other 10 they started. This type of behavior will never produce long term results. So this year I intend to be hard on my self, go the extra mile, and run from procrastination - Do whatever I have to in order to keep moving forward. I encourage everyone to reach for the moon and you'll at least touch the stars!
Thanks Deanna - You don't just insprire, you ARE inspiration!
First of all, I have to respond to the comment above and say that that individual is most definitely cut from the same fabric as I am! I have struggled with procrastination for years which for me was a surface symptom for much more deeply rooted issues of fear and self doubt. I would love to say that my incredible spirituality (ha,ha) caused me to soar out of that place immediately but the truth is that it was sheer desperation and a broken heart that brought me to a point of real surrender and I am most definitely still a work in progress. I am cool with that. One of the greatest breakthroughs for me has been that I finally care more about knowing and doing what God put me on the earth for than anyone elses' plans and expectations for my life-including my own. Beginning to really live out of this new place of progressively more and more genuine trust in God's ultimate plan for who He designed me to be has been AMAZING! I still struggle with feelings of insecurity and fear at times but the deal is- I am going anyway! What a concept! I think I am actually beginning to get over myself bless God (LOL!) and with that I am not trying to do everything at once or things that God didn't really call me to do. This year things are way more simple and in this particular season some major goals for me are to really love the overlooked, serve in my local church (wherever help is needed), finish my degree and get back to my ideal weight. In order to make these goals a reality, I joined the hospitality ministry (I absolutely love it!), enrolled in a killer P.E. boot camp (I can barely walk ya'll) and am attending school full time. I have surrounded myself with a weight loss support group, a spiritual prayer partner and mentor I really look up to and last but not least-I am connected to an amazing woman named Deanna Hurn! Deanna, you have been such an incredibly nurturing and positive influence in my life. You have been repeating the quote "you don't have to be great to get started but you do have to get started to be great," but it took time for it to really sink in for me. For years, that was seriously one of the greatest factors holding me back but through your example of faith and action, I am so impressed upon to take a step, speak up, reach higher, and come into my own. I am so grateful for your life and the impact you have on everyone who comes across your path! This is just the beginning!
ReplyDeleteWow...the comments are rolling in.
ReplyDeleteWell, 2009 is my year to be more still...to listen more carefully for the okay before I jump into new things. My goal is to use Spring time to focus on my eventplanning business so that in Summer I will have done more events then I did last Summer. Between working full time/Over time, new baby and fundraising committee board member, my plate is full. I need Grace to keep me going and that's why I'm so greatful and thankful for you D. You keep me motivated 4real!!!!
You're awesome! I love this post. I look forward to more inspiration for you. Be blessed indeed!
